Two members have joined our team at MTM in the past several months, and both have quickly become part of the “family” here.
Please meet Amanda Dobrochowski and Tommy Wood, who join us as operations assistant and dispatcher, respectively.
Before joining MTM in May, Dobrochowski, 29, accumulated more than eight years of diverse management experience, transitioning from the dynamic world of retail to the structured environment of corporate management.
Dobrochowski’s career, coupled with her vibrant personality, illustrates her passion for building meaningful relationships and forging strong connections. Through her husband’s involvement in the trucking industry Dobrochowski was introduced to MTM Vice President Taylor Santiago. The rest, as they say, is history.
Since Dobrochowski showed up the first day at MTM, she’s embraced the unique culture of the company. “The sense of community we have at MTM Trucking and Logistics feels like an extension of my family,” says the Maryland resident. “Building strong, supportive relationships at work is essential to creating a culture of safety and trust.”
In her role as office assistant, Dobrochowski handles various HR-related tasks such as developing and implementing safety protocols and emergency action plans. She ensures procedures are followed and documentation is up-to-date. Her job also includes managing the organization of safety materials and maintaining compliance with industry regulations.
When she’s not dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s for the MTM staff, Dobrochowski joins Santiago in conference calls and meetings while making use of the office’s dual “walking pads.” She even helped create a “Get Your Steps in” video, which you can check out below this story.
Santiago calls Dobrochowski an invaluable asset to the MTM team. “The first time I met Amanda, we jived right off the bat, and I immediately knew she would fit in well with our family culture,” Santiago said. “With her professional demeanor and tenacious work ethic, the team has full confidence that the job always gets done right.”
Fun fact: Dobrochowski has already acquired a nickname, ‘Tumi’ for turmeric, because she powered through “choking down her golden latte” at her first interview, Santiago said.
Wood, 38, joined MTM’s dispatch team in late 2023, transitioning from a career in the food service industry, where he started as a dishwasher and made his way up to head chef.
“I decided to change paths, and my mom and dad both worked for MTM and said what a great company it was to work for,” he said. “I am curious and creative, and have a passion for learning and connecting with others. I thrive on exploring new ideas and finding innovative solutions to everyday challenges.”
Also Maryland born and raised, Wood is part of the dispatch team that records data throughout the day, keeping track of drivers so he can inform customers that they are on schedule. When there are delays or issues with drivers, equipment or traffic, it’s up to Wood and his dispatch co-workers to resolve them.
“I like that I can help people when they need it, and can steer them in the right direction,” Wood said.
He adds that being a head chef was actually great training for his current role. “Both roles require managing a lot during the day, tracking tasks and meeting time limits. Being a chef was all about time management and controlling the flow of the day, ensuring everything was prepped and ready,” Wood said.
“Dispatching is very similar: How smooth the night goes depends on how things are set up from the morning and even the night before. Teamwork in dispatching is just as important as it is in the kitchen.”
Wood, like Dobrochowski, appreciates that MTM is a tight-knit, small company with the ability to grow. He especially appreciates the respect and admiration shown to his mom, Marian Wood, for her own dedication to the company.
Santiago lauds Wood for his approach to the job. “I haven’t met many people with the dedication and care that Tommy has for his work,” she said. “We are lucky to have him at MTM.”
Wood, an avid sports fan, said, “I have really enjoyed the change of pace and different perspective this career has to offer.” He roots (hard) for the Ravens and Orioles, and enjoys playing golf in his free time.
In Dobrochowski’s free time, she enjoys food, movies, crafts, beach time and weekend trips to Pennsylvania.
