Maritime Magic fund-raiser will feature all honorees

Taylor Santiago

MTM Vice President Taylor Santiago is being honored this year as a “Rising Star,” recognized by the Living Classrooms Foundation and Baltimore Business Journal as an outstanding young leader in the Baltimore area.

The class of 2024 “Stars” was announced earlier this year, kicking off fundraising campaigns that will culminate in the Living Classrooms Maritime Magic event along the waterfront on Oct. 4.

“In accepting this distinction, I have committed to raising money to help Living Classrooms fulfill its mission of providing hands-on education and job training to underserved youth and adults in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. areas,” said Santiago, who was nominated for the honor by Living Classrooms President and CEO James Piper Bond.

Santiago’s campaign was nearly halfway to her goal of $3,000 as of the end of July. You can view and donate here.

“I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to be a 2024 Rising Star honoree,” Santiago added.

The 2024 Kickoff event for the fundraising campaign associated with Rising Stars took place in late spring; the fundraising efforts culminate in October with the annual Maritime Magic event, the organization’s annual splash along the Baltimore waterfront.

“This non-profit organization provides education, growth opportunities, and a multitude of support to the Baltimore community through their motto, ‘learning by doing,’ ” Santiago said.

“I am truly enjoying engaging and connecting with the other leaders and stars in the program, especially the alumni! Everyone is so kind and helpful with wanting each other to excel and succeed! It is empowering when you have a team aligned with a passionate, common vision.”

Samantha (@BaltimoreFoodScene) and Chris (@eatmorebemore) will be the  food judges at this year’s event. In addition, there will be a People’s Choice Awards where the event’s 2,000+ guests will be able to cast a vote for their favorite food sponsor.
